Merritt often ran away, and she had been arrested and charged with prostitution several months before she disappeared. The day after her disappearance, she was due in court on the soliciting arrest.
Earlier, she had told her grandmother if she didn’t hear from her in a month’s time, to tell police about one of the men she had been hanging out with.
Merritt used to go to East Syracuse Minoa schools, when she lived with her mother in Fremont. She dropped out of school and went to live with her grandmother. After a while she started to “hang out” downtown. Her grandmother did not believe she was involved with drugs or drinking. She is described as very trusting.
As far as her family know, the only thing she had with her when she disappeared was a grocery bag of clothes. Her makeup and toothbrush were left at home. She also had no money with her.

Kelly Eileen Morissey

Kelly Eileen Morrissey

Missing since June 12, 1984 from Lynbrook, Nassau County, New York.
Classification: Non-Family Abduction

Vital Statistics

Date Of Birth: August 22, 1968
Age at Time of Disappearance: 15 years old
Height and Weight at Time of Disappearance: 5’6; 130 pounds
Distinguishing Characteristics: White female. Dark blonde hair; brown eyes.
Marks, Scars: Morrissey has a scar on her forehead. She has pierced ears.
Clothing: Morrissey was last seen wearing a pink sleeveless sweatshirt; jeans; white sneakers; and a gold chain with a charm.
Circumstances of Disappearance
Before meeting a friend the night of June 12, 1984, Morrissey had laid out her outfit for the next day- a new pair of black jeans with the tags yet to be removed, and a blue, sleeveless, scoop-neck blouse. She took no extra clothes, no other belongings and no cache of savings that a runaway would be expected to take. And she was due to get her paycheck the next day.

Morrissey was last seen by her friend about 21.30-22.00 on June 12, 1984. Morrissey met the friend at a gas station on Merrick Road. There they waited for more than an hour, expecting to meet two men. Neither showed up, and the two girls talked to the gas station attendant, a friend of theirs, for about 45 minutes.

The friend decided to leave, but Morrissey said she would stay a while longer to see if the men showed. When they didn’t, she headed off alone for a game parlor known as Captain Video, about a half mile west on Merrick Road. She never made it to the video parlor, and she hasn’t been seen since.

When she didn’t return that night, her mother assumed she had been forced by thunderstorms to spend the night at her friends house.

Six months later, 16 year old Theresa Fusco disappeared. She was also last seen on Merrick Road, which is the main street in Lynwood. The two girls knew each other.
Fusco was later located deceased, a victim of homicide. Three men were convicted of murdering Fusco and served seventeen years in prison for the crime, before DNA testing proved that they were not the killers.

Morrissey lived with her mother and stepfather, two sisters, and two step siblings, and rarely saw her father. She was attending Lynbrook High School and worked after school at a shade and venetian-blind packaging plant in Lynbrook. Morrissey had begun to push the limits, sometimes sneaking off to the woods with friends to drink beer purchased by the older crowd who hung out at the local arcade. She sometimes broke her curfew, but she always came home.
Foul play is suspected.

At the time of her disappearance, Williams was separated from her husband and the father of her two boys. She was reported missing by her live-in boyfriend and the father of her daughter.
Police believe foul play is likely due to Williams leaving behind her medication, the length of time she has been gone and because she has not turned up in credit card and driver’s license databases.

In 2006 a suspect told authorities he was involved in the disappearance of Laura, and the disappearance of Cindy Rowles. He has not been charged in either case.
